In the middle of tucking into this wonderful pack of nasi lemak… This is another example of good food existing not only in restaurants but in our good old regular neighbourhood coffee shop as well. Packed with rice that smell heavenly coupled with crunchy ikan bilis that go cracking in your mouth, this $1 wonder comes with chilli that when mixed with everything waters your mouth and makes you want to go for a second pack…

Ball thrown backwards from a moving truck…

A very interesting video. Scientific in nature but there is something that defies logic. The driver is strapped with a seat belt and puts on a helmet but the person behind the truck is only sitting down and not wearing even a cap.

Lamy’s back!!!

Posted in the usual by I@n

After slightly more than 2 months I got a call from the pen shop this morning to pick up my lamy 2000. I sent it in for servicing after I dropped it around 2 months ago. They really took their time with it, guess the waiting goes with the territory of owning a pen that does not have a service centre here in Singapore.

Anyway, damage was a whopping $70! But it’s nice to see a shiny new nib, they said the service centre had to replace some parts besides the nib as the drop had actually cracked something inside. Expensive but looks like they did a pretty good job though. So with a fresh load of ink, I started scribbling on my book.

The ink flow seemed a bit retarded, could be due to the new nib, guess it’s going to take some time to mold the tip to my style again, hope this retard in ink flow is not due to some fault in the new parts. But it sure feels good to hear the scratch of pen on paper and seeing black ink forming into words. It’s great to be writing with pen on paper again.

Simply a Sunday…

Posted in cycling by I@n

Woke up on Sunday morning around 7. Feeling down. Got some news I didn’t want to hear about on Saturday. Not knowing what to do and not wanting to stay at home wallowing in self pity, I went riding. I rode all the way to the end of East Coast Park, well, almost the end anyway.

I stopped by a bench to take a breather. Only half a bottle out of two of my drinks had been used up and I had ridden further than I had before, not bad, I thought to myself, and I’m still not feeling any strain, yet. So I sat there for a while soaking in the sun and tried to sort out my thoughts. No real solution seem to come to mind, it was not something that could be thought out logically anyway. So my mind wondered instead into thinking about how far I could go if I continue cycling. It was not too long before I was interrupted by my stomach. A growl. That’s all it took to jolt me back to reality.

Hunger. Despite all that was in my mind, my body gave in to the hunger from the cycling. Decided to call a friend staying near East Coast for breakfast. Ended up having breakfast with him and his wife at his place. Chatted with them until almost noon before I set off for the ride back.

After taking the wrong route, nearly getting clipped by a car and almost skidding off a slippery part of the road I made it home through the baking hot noon sun. Interestingly I did not feeling as tired as I thought I would be. A cold shower and a half a bowl of bee hoon later, I actually felt like going for a swim.

Again my body betrayed me for a couple of hours of sleep instead. Upon waking up, I realised that I’m still feeling down but somehow slightly better about having done something for the day. So how was your day?

Live From Abbey Road

Posted in the usual by I@n

Great music performed live by renowned artistes at the world’s most famous recording studio. That’s what “Live From Abbey Road” is all about. With no audiences and the sessions filmed by a film crew inside the studio, this show is packed with a variety of musicians and singers coming from different music genres. Besides their performances, there are also interviews in between the songs that provides added flavour to the whole show.

The key factor of this show is its variety. You got rock, pop, jazz, soul and many more. Over the weeks, you get to experience all of their different music and indulge yourself in the performances in its rawest form. Besides the music and performances, you also get to know more about the people behind the music. I believe that this is one of the factors that completes the whole experience behind this wonderful show.

So if you’re living in Singapore, tune in to the show that’s currently showing every Tuesday nights at 11pm. I believe you will enjoy it as much as I do.

fotograf by imran…

Boring Singapore? Lack of subjects? I should say not.

For photographers who feel that Singapore is lacking in good subjects for their shoot should take a look at “fotograf by imran“. Believe me when I say that all these pictures are of places in Singapore. The breathtaking results that he come up with for things that many of us take no notice of are truly works of art.

He has this ability to appreciate what we take for granted everyday. This is very admirable and something I believe many photographers, including myself, in Singapore should develop. You can also literally feel patience oozing out of his pictures. To be able to capture scenes like that not only takes a huge amount of leg work but a considerable amount of patience as well.

So I suggest going to his site to immerse yourself in his works and understand more about this person behind the camera. Be awed and inspired by what he can do, who he is and I believe he will inspire you to bring your love of photography into another level. Happy shooting!
