Toilet smoking assholes…

Posted in the usual by I@n

I really hate people who smoke in toilets that’s not shared. You know, those toilets that are a single cubicle by itself. If you can’t even stand your own stink, you should go see a doctor about it. Don’t go smoking inside the toilet and give the rest of us respiratory problems. I should just stick your ciggies up your ass and light them up.

Warm and thick…

Posted in the usual by I@n

Warm, thick.

That’s how the air feels like now. Not sure if this a sign of a heat wave coming on. It’s actually quite uncomfortable. Looking out the window, I can feel the sun pouring like vengeance onto the ground and it seems like though I’m indoors, my transition lens is actually going to turn dark.

I was planning to go to the library, but the thought of having to walk under this blaze is making me very hesitant about it. Thinking about this is already making me sweat. I am going to have a shower and decide later.

PPP Direct.. Something new…

Posted in payperpost by I@n

For those who are looking to get paid for blogging, something new has come out of the PayPerPost service. The PPP Direct program. PPP is a kind of word of mouth marketing that’s getting pretty popular among bloggers who are looking to get some form of income for their blogs.

But with many of such programs come with a problem that bloggers encounter frequently, that is the high amount of charges that bloggers have to pay. The posts are charged with a 50-100% markup and the bloggers get only half of what they supposed to be paid. The advantage of this new PPP Direct is that you only have to pay 10% of whatever’s being paid to you.

This is in addition to the question of if you really do get paid. PPP acts sort of like an escrow service that ensure both parties gain completely from the transaction. In such an arrangement nobody gets played out.

The additional marketing that bloggers get from this PPP Direct service is also a plus point. There’ll be a directory of listing that will help to expose bloggers under this plan to more advertisers that would potentially want to advertise on their blog.

So for those who are looking to earn some little income from your blogs, try it out.

Hot turtle and fishy pork…

Posted in the usual by I@n

Dining with clients can be an interesting experience. One of my clients has an affinity for good food and I don’t mean only the expensive restaurants type of food. We’re talking about good tasting food that’s value for money. More often than not, when we meet up, he’ll bring us to try some nice dish tucked in the corner of some housing estate or a nice inexpensive restaurant.

Today was no exception. We found ourselves waiting for half an hour in the hot and humid hawker centre for, believe it or not, turtle soup. You might think we’re crazy to be thinking of that given the hot weather we’ve been experiencing these days. But like many Singaporeans, when it comes to food, we throw all comfort and caution into the wind.

Since we had to wait for the soup, my client, hungry and impatient, got us a whole set of pork dishes as sort of a “starter”. It came in 2 plates, a couple of bowls of rice and a big bowl of soup. The pork dish that he got us was quite unique. There was fish, quite fresh, mixed with seasoned pork. Strange you might think but with the sauce, the mix of fish and pork blended quite well. In fact, we cleaned off everything in a matter of minutes.

Next came the turtle soup. As it was placed steaming hot in front of us, I can smell the strong herbal smell that could only be the result of brewing the herbs for long hours. I took a sip of the soup and I was impressed by the balanced of taste. The taste of herbs is there but not overpowering with a tinge of spice. The meat of the soft shell turtle is tender and well cooked but nothing much to say about the taste, in fact, it was kind of bland.

Portion was just right though, I managed to finish the meat but was too full by then to finish all the soup. By then we were all wet with perspiration but all well fed and fully satisfied with the good meal. Back to work…

On nights like this…

Posted in the usual by I@n

Tired, sleepy and the phone’s ringing its hook off! Of all nights, my phone’s been ringing almost non stop since I went to bed. It’s been a bad day and I was hoping to sleep early tonight but somehow SMS and calls have been coming in non stop. Turning off my phone’s not an option so I guess I’ll have to live with it for tonight.

$10 Police Flashlight Hack! - video powered by Metacafe
I’m going to try this out when I have the chance. You won’t have the strong housing but with that kind of brightness, it’s a good upgrade for your household flashlight.

Sense of time…

Posted in the usual by I@n

The glass door slides open and a flustered looking girl trips into the lobby. Quickly, she looks around, pursed her lips and looking kind of frustrated, plonks herself down the seat beside me.

Sitting back and crossing her legs, she pulls out her mobile phone starts dialing. A moment later…

“Hey! Where are you? I’m already here leh!”

Stealing a side-ward glance at her, I told myself, another victim of a late comer. I myself have been waiting at the lobby for over an hour for someone who told me I had to rush down for the appointment that’s been re-scheduled to an earlier time. As usual, I’m early and they’re late, so I can totally understand how she’s feeling.

“You said 12 pm right???!!!! Then where are you? How come you’re late?!! How much longer?!! Huh?!! Aiyah!!! Grrr… Ok lah! Quickly lah!”

Something clicked in my head and I looked at the watch. It showed 12.35pm and all these just happened in the last 5 minutes. Sigh…

WIFI not so fearful?

Posted in the usual by I@n

BBC NEWS | Technology | Wi-fi health fears are ‘unproven’

Scientists have said there is no evidence to suggest a link between the use of wi-fi and damage to health.

It’s a piece of good news but are we just listening to only what we want to hear? What do you think?

Not a bad weekend.. Long day ahead…

Posted in the usual by I@n

I looked at my schedule and I’m already feeling tired. It’s going to be a long day with meetings all the way till late afternoon. But overall my weekend’s been good. Managed to go for 2 movies, “Spiderman 3″ and “Priceless”. “Priceless” is an interesting movie. I’ll write more about it later.

Besides that, I managed to complete 2 assignments and fired them off for the review, very excited, can’t wait to see what the tutor’s going to say about them. I also managed to retrieve the latest assignment materials.

From the looks of it, this latest set of assignment’s not going to be easy. I’ll be required to gather quite a number of magazines and publications and doing some evaluation on them. Leg work leg work… It’s going to be a lot of leg work. Hmm.. Come to think of it, since I’ll be in town tomorrow, I think it’ll be a good chance for me to just pop by some cafes and grab a couple of those free magazines.

Ok, looks like I just added another to-do item for myself, better grab some sleep. Wish me luck!

Movie: Spiderman 3

Posted in movies by I@n

Finally caught Spiderman 3 last night. Thoroughly enjoyed it!

It’s rare to find a movie that can meld emotions and special effects so well, although the Spiderman storyline has always been very strong.

The fight scenes were superb and I really like the part where the sandman first animated himself back to shape. The digital theatre helped as well in enhancing the digital effects.

Catch it!

Gun-toting baby…

Posted in the usual by I@n

Didn’t realise that it is THAT easy to get a gun in the US.

Baby ‘Bubba’ gets a gun permit - CNN.com

“Bubba” Ludwig can’t walk, talk or open the refrigerator door — but he does have his very own Illinois gun permit.

I mean, we’re talking about a baby here. How ridiculous is that? What gun controls? The gun lobby should be out of their jobs. There’s no need for a gun lobby ‘cos there’s totally no control at all!

I thought with the recently massacre and all, they would wise up about guns access and such. People just never learn.

Easy visuals..

Posted in random thought by I@n

How great it would be if everyone’s able to create visuals of what they wish to convey easily with just a thought. Imagine that, a thought comes to mind and if you wish to convey that thought to someone else, it magically appears as a visual out of nowhere.

Just a sudden crazy random thought.

Well, let me know if any of you know what other brands are there, thinking about changing to another brand.

Ride to chase away the blues…

Posted in cycling by I@n

Just came back from a quick short ride. Only 10km+ in around 25 minutes. Not fast but got me sweating like I just came out from the sauna. I’m feeling rather refreshed now  after the shower.

It’s been a real hectic day. Reached the office and things just got thrown into high gear non stop until 8 this evening. In fact, I was feeling kind of woozy at my 师父’s new gallery studio opening.

First there were the emails and issues that I had to tend to. Clients that don’t behave are always a chore to deal with. To add on to that, we failed to prepare everything for the afternoon meeting with another difficult client. Everybody was running around like headless chickens and somehow I had difficulty reeling them in. Frustrating to say the least, things were not going well at all this Monday.

The meeting was tough. Major change to the plans and we had to cost it in, hopefully the client don’t jump upon seeing the cost revision. Even our experienced presenter was all tapped out at the end. Time is not on our side. Deadline’s around middle of June and we’ve barely started the work.

On a lighter note, the gallery studio’s opening was good. Small little event, not too crowded, food was good, wine was just right and we had a good time chatting with some of the guests. Got to know a couple of interesting people as well.

I’m glad the day is over. Wasn’t feeling so upbeat though, at least not until after the ride, maybe it does help to chase away the blues, at least a bit. Time to catch some sleep, based on the emails I’ve just read, it’s another long day ahead for me.

How brave are we?

Posted in the usual by I@n

Mother’s Day.

It is today and we’re going to do something really brave and to some many, stupid. We’re going to try to try our luck for lunch at somewhere in Ngee Ann City without reservations. Wish us luck, we’ll need it. More updates later…

UPDATE:

As expected, we were not able to get a place at where we wanted to go. It was fully booked and the earliest we could get a table was after 2pm. So we went off to another restaurant, surprisingly, we were able to get a table for 10 almost immediately. Once we sat everybody down, the crowd started filling up the restaurant, most of them last minute customers like us.

Anyway, back in the office now doing some work. More later…
