Steak recipe…

Posted in the usual by I@n

As per request of Miche

Ingredients:

For Steak:
1. Beef Steak (T-Bone, Rump, Sirloin etc.. Good ones are fresh bright
red, not dry, not brown.)
2. Fresh Rosemary
3. Sea Salt
4. Garlic (crushed)
5. Black Pepper

For Roast Potato:
1. Baby Potato (baby potato with thin white skin)
2. Butter (One table spoon)
3. Black Pepper
4. Dried basil or Mixed Herbs

Prep:
Use one branch of rosemary for each steak. Make small random slits in
the steak and rub all the ingredients for the
steak into it. Push rosemary leaves & garlic into the slits. Put them
into a sandwich bag or cling wrap and let it
sit in the fridge for an hour or two at least.

Mix black pepper and mixed herbs into the butter and stir them well.
We’ll use this on the potatoes just before serving.

To Cook:
1. Wash & Scrub the potatoes then wrap in foil and put into oven for
30 mins.
2. Heat grill pan over a low gentle flame and oil with about a
teaspoon of olive oil. (you don’t want the pan to be too hot.)
3. Put the steak into the pan and let it slowly cook. You can see the
steak slowly brown as it cooks from the pan side up.
4. Turn it over when when you see the color change half way up. When
the two brown sides meet, the steak should be about medium rare.
5. Take potatoes out of oven and cut slits down the middle and melt
in some of the flavored butter we prepared earlier.
6. Done!

Taking things in stride…

Things happen. They always do. It’s a matter of how often. For my case, too often for comfort. But like what some people say. Take it all in stride. One thing / step at a time…

Lost of hearing.. Aid…

Posted in the usual by I@n

My father lost his hearing aid. He’s been rather groggy from the post surgery medication although it’s been a month plus since his op. He might have misplaced it somewhere while he was out, he’s not used to wearing them all the time.

Though it’s going to cost a few thousand dollars to replace them, it’s going to be real inconvenient for him to be without the hearing aids for a while. Anyone know where he could get one set fast?

UPDATE: Found ‘em! They dropped into a plastic bag near the table… :)

What a day…

Posted in the usual by I@n

One of those days where everything seems to go wrong. Woke up and tried to move my fan away to keep it. Dropped it and sort of strained my back trying to catch it during its tumble to the floor.

Still groggy from my sleep. I washed up and tried to make breakfast. Wanting to finish a can of tuna fish I opened yesterday, I prepared the bread and tomatoes etc… Then I opened the fridge, grabbed the can of tuna and threw the it into the microwave oven without a second thought and turned it on.

Suddenly I hear zapping and popping sound coming from the microwave and I looked in horror as I realised what I’ve just done! Metal! No metal is supposed to be placed inside microwave ovens!!!! Quickly turning it off, I opened the door and with a mitten, I pulled the can of tuna, or whatever’s left of it out. The metallic can was still red, smoldering and smoking from the incident. There goes my breakfast.

Lunch was still alright but the noodle I ordered seemed to have turned bad. It tasted funny and was too soggy. I kind of had a short episode of the "shits" after that.

Dinner was quite good. But on my way back home, I coughed so hard that I gagged and threw up part of my dinner. I had to rush out of the MRT station and called for a cab to take me back home ‘cos my shirt was carrying part of my dinner. Ended up paying 16 bucks for the cab after call charges, peak charges and ERP. :(

To sum it all up. Rotten day.

Ever elusive OM-03R… Just a dream… To me…

Posted in the usual by I@n

I would love to have a Larrivée OM-10 but I’ve become realistic about it, got my bank account to consider. So for the past 3 months I’ve been hunting for the Larrivée OM-3R instead in the hopes of trying it out. I’m definitely not going to buy a guitar without trying it out. You wouldn’t believe the difficulties I went through just trying to find one to try out.

3 months of searching high and low, calling up shops and their warehouse. I’ve even looked up the internet. Just couldn’t find one. It’s really frustrating. I manage to find the mahogany model and other rosewood models (L, D) but just not the OM rosewood model I’m looking for. And looks like they might not even have it any longer ‘cos according to them, they might not have ordered that particular model from the manufacturer. :(

Sad… Sad…

China bans poultry imports? You gotta be kidding…

Posted in the usual by I@n

China’s banned import of poultry from 14 countries in their bid to fight bird flu.

You got to be kidding right? They should be banned from exporting their poultry instead. Sheesh, their internal controls has failed due to people smuggling diseased poultry out and now they’re slapping a ban on other countries? Trust humans to blame others directly or indirectly for problems instead of working together to find a solution to the problem.
