I think Toa Payoh is having an epidemic. An epidemic of nuts.
There’s been an increase in the number of nuts roaming around Toa Payoh these days. This afternoon while making my way down to Orchard Road, I had an encounter with 2 loonies that I suspect, had escaped from some nut bin somewhere.
Looney 1. He approached a queue for a bus and shouted for people to move in closer to shorten the queue. People moved and then when a lady entered the queue behind him, he started sprouting explicits at the poor lady.
Taken aback, she started to move away from him and that got him going! Cursing out loud at the lady with language that would make a seasoned sailor blushed, he went on and on, shouting at her. People were asking why he had to use those words and phrases. As the bus I was waiting for was moving off, he was still at it.
Looney 2. This guy sat a couple of seats away from me at the back of the bus. The minute he got on the bus he started cursing at the bus driver for not turning the aircon on before he got on the bus. Throughout the bus journey, he was pointing, jeering and cursing at the driver and at passengers that somehow offended him with their looks. He was telling them to eat shit etc…
These 2 loonies are just the new additions to the Toa Payoh Looney community. Previously my friends and I have encountered a lady that scolded people while having her breakfast drink in the Macdonalds, a guy that stares at you continously if he’s set his eyes upon you as well as a few more colourful characters that would really disturb you mentally and physically.
Think either life is getting a bit too pressurising for many living in Toa Payoh or psychiatric wards in the hospitals in Singapore are dumping their patients at the interchange due to reasons beyond our understanding. Anyway, this trend is rather worrying and I do hope it doesn’t get worse.
