Sheares bridge run…

I think someone made a mistake with the measurements. The 5km run felt like 7 or 8km… I’m now in pain…

Suggestions anyone?

Posted in photography by I@n

I’ve been trying to find a way to carry my laptop as well as my camera with 3 lenses and 2 rolls of film. But till now I’ve yet to find a way to carry all that without breaking my shoulder or the straps of my bag.

The bags I’ve seen that are able to do that are usually very bulky or they don’t provide the necessary protection for my camera. So suggestions anyone?

Competition at HDB…

Posted in the usual by I@n

I was sitting at Starbucks Toa Payoh waiting for someone to arrive for a meeting when some people from HDB kept coming in asking for cups, paper bags, 20 dollar notes etc.

Seems like they are having some games where they have to collect different objects from different shops at different times. Weird…

What’s wrong with the picture here?

Posted in photography by I@n

Wedding couple calls up looking for a wedding day photographer. We arrange to meet up to view the portfolio first. They can also view them online.

Choices available for them, just normal snapshots with record of event or photojournalistic style. Chances are, they will usually want the photojournalistic style. Next, the prices. Market rate, $450-600 for the snapshots and around $1200-$6000 for the photojournalistic style.

Eyes would pop, jaws would drop and then, “You know, we’ve already spent alot of on our album shoot, cloths, dinner and videographer, so could we can’t afford to pay you that much, anyway we just need a record of events, no need too fanciful stuff.”

So do you all see anything wrong?

Ah… Mother’s cooking…

Posted in the usual by I@n

Nothing beats my mums cooking. The horrific memory of the slushy noodles went off once I tasted the bee hoon she cooked up for lunch. BURP!

Noodles…

Posted in the usual by I@n

Maybe food stalls that sell noodles should require some form of certification to say that they KNOW how to cook noodles. Any decent person who knows how to cook noodles would know that you must first wash the noodle to remove the preservatives and then not to overcook the noodles into slush. It makes me want to throw up when I eat noodles that still taste like it just came out of the packaging or when it feels like some vomit in the mouth…

Sucky TV!!!

Posted in the usual by I@n

Say goodbye to average tv programmes and say hi to Sucky TV!!!

Today the second television network in Singapore, Mediaworks, gave up its fight and threw in the towel. These past few years have seen an increase in the quality of some of the programs due to the competition among these 2 players. Although it still leaves a lot to be desired, it was still better than the days where we have only one tv network that monopolised the market and churned out crap.

So it seems like now it’s going to be back to the old days of Suck TV, “watch it or leave it”.

Two loonies!

Posted in the usual by I@n

I think Toa Payoh is having an epidemic. An epidemic of nuts.

There’s been an increase in the number of nuts roaming around Toa Payoh these days. This afternoon while making my way down to Orchard Road, I had an encounter with 2 loonies that I suspect, had escaped from some nut bin somewhere.

Looney 1. He approached a queue for a bus and shouted for people to move in closer to shorten the queue. People moved and then when a lady entered the queue behind him, he started sprouting explicits at the poor lady.

Taken aback, she started to move away from him and that got him going! Cursing out loud at the lady with language that would make a seasoned sailor blushed, he went on and on, shouting at her. People were asking why he had to use those words and phrases. As the bus I was waiting for was moving off, he was still at it.

Looney 2. This guy sat a couple of seats away from me at the back of the bus. The minute he got on the bus he started cursing at the bus driver for not turning the aircon on before he got on the bus. Throughout the bus journey, he was pointing, jeering and cursing at the driver and at passengers that somehow offended him with their looks. He was telling them to eat shit etc…

These 2 loonies are just the new additions to the Toa Payoh Looney community. Previously my friends and I have encountered a lady that scolded people while having her breakfast drink in the Macdonalds, a guy that stares at you continously if he’s set his eyes upon you as well as a few more colourful characters that would really disturb you mentally and physically.

Think either life is getting a bit too pressurising for many living in Toa Payoh or psychiatric wards in the hospitals in Singapore are dumping their patients at the interchange due to reasons beyond our understanding. Anyway, this trend is rather worrying and I do hope it doesn’t get worse.

Jurong east toilets… GROSS!!!

Posted in the usual by I@n

I think Jurong East entertainment centre has one of the worst toilets in Singapore! It stinks, has stains all over and it looks like it’s leaking from every possible crack it has.

I was thinking of putting up some pictures but then I think it would totally gross you out. In fact, you might be poisoned just by the pictures themselves.

I wonder how it escaped the attention of the Singapore Clean Toilet champaign?

Small matter…

Posted in the usual by I@n

My friend’s neighbour’s kid couldn’t get a place in a school near his neighbourhood, his father went to the local MP to see if they could do something. Guess what? The MP refuse to see them, the secretary said this is small matter and told them to go home wait for letter.

It’s been a few weeks since then, the kid is still idling at home and they’ve yet to receive anything. The parent should just send the kid to anywhere, but I’m equally perturbed by the fact that the MP just refuse to see them on the basis that it’s a small matter.

Even if you want to reject them, seeing them won’t kill, right? So much for your friendly neighbourhood MP.

Teachers…

Posted in the usual by I@n

I know a group of people who became teachers and they are generally struggling financially but another group, like my neighbour, he’s a teacher as well and it seems like he can afford to live a pretty luxurious life.

His wife doesn’t work, he’s got 3 kids and they are taking piano lessons, they just bought a new car etc… And another I know, can afford to make purchases at 10-20k per purchase. So what’s making the differences in finances of these 2 groups of teachers?
